Overview

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to ensure that Medical Center facilities are in good repair and working order and are secure upon opening and closing of the business day.  The position requires custodial duties and minor repairs.   

Responsibilities

  • Serves as electrician in repairing minor electrical malfunctions and installing new equipment and/or arrange for vendor(s) to perform such functions upon supervisor approval
  • May work as a plumber in assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and sewer systems, and in opening clogged drains and/or arrange for outside vendor(s) to perform such functions upon supervisor approval
  • Acts as a carpenter in the minor alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, ceilings, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, wood fixtures, and furniture - and/or arrange for outside vendor(s) to perform such functions upon supervisor approval
  • Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools carefully and as instructed
  • Picks up and delivers packages as schedule and upon request
  • Manages the distribution, collection, and duplication of keys to the facility
  • Assists with preparation of the Medical Center facility grounds before opening and during operation of inclement weather conditions
  • Other duties as assigned

 ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May perform minor repairs to air conditioning system as required, and oversee the general maintenance of system
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Assists in sanitation control and checks safety and security hazards

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations following supervisor’s instructions.

  • General knowledge of various types of equipment used in the building maintenance trades
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision, given proper instructions
  • Ability to do heavy lifting
  • Ability to follow instructions, given either orally or in writing
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, and air conditioning equipment
  • Ability to read and write and to follow detailed written instructions in English.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Computer Experinece.
